Remarks

In 1886 Johann Strauss visited Russia for the first time since 1869. He accepted an invitation from the ladies of the St. Petersburg Society to participate in some charity events. At a gala concert in the huge hall of the riding school of the Russian Cavalry Guard Regiment, the composer also presented the Adelen waltz . He conducted the orchestra of the Russian State Opera. The work was dedicated to his then partner and later third wife Adele Deutsch-Strauss (1856–1930).

In Vienna, the waltz was performed for the first time on November 7, 1886 at the benefit concert of his brother Eduard in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein under Johann's direction. Neither in Russia nor in Vienna was the plant able to establish itself. There were obligatory positive reviews, nothing more. As a result, the work disappeared from the concert schedule.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 34 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
