Adjunction
With adjunction (from Latin adiunctio linking, addition) are called in mathematics:
- in algebra the addition of elements to a ring or body, see adjunction (algebra)
- in ring theory the extension of a ring by a single element, see adjunction (single element)
- in category theory adjoint functors, see adjunction (category theory)
- In propositional logic, an inclusive or connection, see disjunction
With adjoint is denoted:
- in linear algebra a complex conjugated and transposed matrix, see adjoint matrix
- in functional analysis the generalization to linear operators, see adjoint operator
- in the theory of Lie groups or algebraic groups, the adjoint representation
- in the theory of linear ordinary differential equations, the adjoint differential equation
