Admiralspalast (Zabrze)
The Admiralspalast in Zabrze (German Hindenburg OS ) is a modern building from the 1920s. It is located at ul. Wolności (the former Kronprinzenstrasse) and was used as a hotel.
The house was built in 1924–1927 according to plans by the Berlin architects Richard Bielenberg and Josef Moser. During the excavation work it turned out that the master key hereditary tunnel is located under the property . That is why the building was built on a 2.5 meter thick base plate made of reinforced concrete .
The Admiralspalast housed various catering establishments: a hotel with 50 beds, a restaurant, a café, a beer bar "Bayrisches Braustübl" with around 250 seats and the roof garden, which at the time was particularly modern and metropolitan. A cabaret theater with 450 seats was also housed in the building.
After 1945 the hotel was operated under the names “Prezydent”, “Przodownik” and “Monopol”. In the 1990s, the hotel was closed. After the building had been in poor condition for many years, the Admiral's Palace was recently renovated.
The building stands on an acute-angled plot of land, the corner is rounded and emphasized as a characteristic main view of the building. The vertical architectural structure of this facade section is based on contemporary expressionist architecture and is crowned by a dome with a diameter of 11 meters. 1500 lamps originally provided lighting for the building.
