Adnan Çolak

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adnan Çolak (born September 5, 1967 ) is a Turkish serial killer who murdered eleven people, including three elderly and two younger couples and a single 70-year-old woman, in villages in Artvin Province from October 16, 1992 to 1995 . Çolak was guilty of raping his female victims and, in one case, a daughter of his victims. He is one of the most famous serial killers in Turkey.

Adnan Çolak was caught immediately after giving a detailed testimony from a woman who ambushed Çolak and believed she was dead. He was 28 years old when he was arrested and was working as a shepherd in the area. Çolak was the father of three children.

For security reasons, the trial was moved to Zonguldak and heard there before the 1st Grand Criminal Chamber of Zonguldak. In court, Adnan Çolak made very contradicting statements. The process lasted five years. The court finally sentenced him to death six times on June 23, 2000 and to an aggravated prison term of 112 years.

The Turkish press called him "the monster of Artvin". His deeds were published in novel form.
