Adolf Hitler free space donation

The Adolf Hitler Free Seat Donation was a social institution established by the NSDAP in 1933 . It should enable well- deserved old fighters a free vacation in the form of a free place.

Development and Background

In 1935, the donation was expanded to include all national comrades and their relatives if the local NS-Volkswohlfahrt office considered them to be in need.

This campaigned for free places in health resorts and bathing resorts, preferring those in need from the circle of the “old fighters”, while other party members were grouped together in Hitler vacationer camaraderie. The NS-Volkswohlfahrt worked with branches of the NSDAP, the Reichsnährstand and Reichsfremdenverkehrsverband as well as welfare institutions of the churches and the Inner Mission .

With the donation, the NSDAP privatized public welfare and exerted strong pressure on the people's comrades with the actions. The motto, which consists of a quotation from Rudolf Hess , according to which every party member has to regard his health as the “highest duty” towards the party, “so that he can serve the Führer ”, illustrates the ideologicalisation of welfare policy under National Socialism .
