Adolf von Dombois

Johannes Heinrich Adolf Dombois , von Dombois since 1909 , (born October 1, 1857 in Hadamar ; † August 29, 1944 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and politician in the financial administration and banker.

Life

After studying law, Adolf Dombois became a court assessor in 1884 and a government assessor in Aachen in 1885 . In 1890 he was initially a laborer, then a councilor in the Prussian Ministry of Finance. In 1891 he was promoted to the Secret Finance Council and in 1897 to the Secret Upper Finance Council. In 1902 he was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Treasury.

In 1909, Adolf Dombois moved from the ministry as a Really Privy Councilor to head Maritime Trade and thus became President of the Prussian State Bank. In the same year he was ennobled . He led the Prussian State Bank until 1924. Then he was still active on the supervisory board of the Darmstadt and National Bank.
