Adoption (Canon Law)

The adoption , i.e. the adoption of a child of choice, is recognized by canon law , although the respective secular law is used as a basis for the existence of the adoption.

The CIC regulates this in can. 110 : Children adopted according to secular law are considered to be the children of those who adopted them.

In can. 1094 is an obstacle to marriage for persons related to one another by adoption .
