The Adva Center (Adva is literally Hebrew for "well") is an independent Israeli research institution.

The center was founded in 1991 by activists from various social movements. The main concerns from the beginning have been equality between Mizrahim and Arab Israelis and support for feminist concerns. The managing director is currently the sociologist Barbara Swirski, the scientific director is the sociologist Shlomo Swirski.

Goals and Strategies

The main themes of the center are gender equality, fair working conditions, education and health as well as social assistance and housing conditions for the disadvantaged or the situation in the occupied territories. The declared aim is to improve the situation of disadvantaged groups in Israel. To this end, Adva offers advice to politicians and organizations. Public lectures or interviews with representatives of the media are also given.

From 1991 to 2015 reports on social and societal issues were published in English under the title "Israel Equality monitor" at irregular intervals.

The center is a partner of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation office in Israel. It also cooperates with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, for example, in the context of individual events .
