The Aegidiimarkt in Münster is the location name for the entire building complex built in the area of the former Aegidiiparkplatz, which borders Johannisstrasse in the north and Aegidiistrasse in the east.

history

Before 1819 the monastery of the Cistercians, the Aegidiikloster, was located there . However, after the dilapidated Aegidiikirche was torn down, the Aegidii barracks (also known as Dreizehnerkaserne ) of Infantry Regiment No. 13 was built around 1830 , which was destroyed in World War II. In the post-war period, the site was only used as a parking lot for a long time before the city acquired the site and built a modern business, office and residential center here, which opened in 1979. In the new building, an NBC protection bunker was installed in the car park on the tenth underground floor. It should offer protection to 3,000 people in the event of a crisis.
