Győrújbarát is a municipality with 5,998 inhabitants in the Győr-Moson-Sopron county in the Győr suburb in Hungary . The community was created in 1969 by amalgamating four settlements: Kisbarátfalu (German Small Roast Village ), Kisbaráthegy (German Small Roast Mountain ), Nagybarátfalu (German Large Roast Village ) and Nagybaráthegy (German Large Roast Mountain ).
geography
The municipality of Győrújbarát is located in the north-west of Hungary in the Little Hungarian Plain, 8 kilometers south of Győr and 15 kilometers south of the Danube , which forms the border with Slovakia .
history
During excavations in the area of Győrújbarát remains from were Hallstatt period and tombs from the Roman and - Avar . found. In 1211 the place was first mentioned as Barath . In 1549 it was destroyed by the Turks . In the 18th century, Slovaks and Germans also settled in the four places.
