The Dublin Airport Authority plc 1 (until 1 October 2004 Aer Rianta cpt 2 ) is the national airport company of the Republic of Ireland . The company is based in Dublin .

The Dublin Airport Authority is responsible for the following Irish airports:

The Shannon airport was operated until 2012 also by society. The Great Southern Hotels also belonged to the company until 2006 , of which there were nine on the Irish island at the time.

Aer Rianta

The company was founded in 1937 as Aer Rianta, Teoranta 3 . The ( Irish ) name derives from the airways ( air ways from). The company was a shareholder in Aer Lingus until 1969 . Aer Rianta has had control of Dublin Airport since it opened, but has only been in charge of Cork and Shannon since 1969. In 1998 the name was changed to Aer Rianta cpt .

Aer Rianta International

Aer Rianta International (ARI) is a subsidiary of the Dublin Airport Authority , which was founded in 1988 as part of Aer Rianta.

In addition to the airport in Dublin, the company has a stake in the airports in Birmingham , Düsseldorf and Hamburg and also operates the duty-free shops at the airports in Moscow and other countries in the Middle East and North America .

State Airports Act, 2004

In 2004 the so-called State Airports Act came into force, renaming Aer Rianta cpt to Dublin Airport Authority plc and preventing the authority from being privatized.
