The Aero Commander 685 or Rockwell 685 Commander was the most powerful twin-engine piston aircraft in the Commander series , equipped with the most powerful geared piston engines from Continental Engines , the GTSIO 520-K with 435 HP each . From 1972, only 67 of this type were built and were soon replaced by the more powerful Commander 690 with turboprop . With its 322 gallons of fuel, the AC 685 achieved a maximum flight time of nine hours in economy flight and a range of 1900 NM. The large fuselage cell offers ample space for up to 8 passengers, the pressurized cabin allows cruising altitudes of up to approx. 7300 meters.
