The AfW - Bundesverband Finanzdienstleistungs eV (AfW) is a professional association of financial advisors working in Germany . It has the legal form of a registered association .
Structures and tasks
The association was founded in 1992 in Wiesbaden and today represents around 2,000 member companies, which represent around 40,000 people working in the financial sector.
The members usually work as brokers or multiple agents in financial advice . Supporting members of the professional association are financial product providers and other companies active in the financial sector such as Alte Leipziger Lebensversicherung , the markt intern publishing group or the investment company Franklin Templeton Investments .
One of the overarching goals of the association is to create the profession of independent financial service provider (financial advisor), whose reputation is comparable to professions such as lawyers or tax consultants . In this sense, he works towards a legal standardization in financial service sales. For the goals he is active politically and in public relations. It is accredited as an interest group at the German Bundestag and is also listed in the joint transparency register of the European Commission and the European Parliament.
He is also involved in the competitive field.
Memberships
The association is a member of the Convention of Independent Financial Advisors (CIFA), Geneva, and of the Fédération Européenne Des Conseils Et Intermédiaires Financiers ( FECIF ), Brussels.

The association is headed by a three-person board . One member of the board of directors has an executive function. There is also an advisory board .
