history

The company has a long tradition, which is reflected in the investment approach. The company name refers to the scientist and statesman Benjamin Franklin , who not only adorns the American 100-dollar bill, but is also represented in the company logo. This goes back to Rupert H. Johnson, the founder of Franklin Distributors, Inc. He was so fascinated by Franklin that he named his company, founded in 1947, Franklin Distributors. In 1992 it merged with Templeton, which was founded in 1940 by John Templeton in New York . John Templeton had laid his fortune with unconventional investment behavior in the 1930s and was one of the first to recognize the possibilities of global investments. In 1996, Franklin Templeton took over the Mutual Shares Corporation, which increased the fund assets under management to 118 billion euros. In 2001 the takeover of Fiduciary Trust Company International took place.
