Africa (Petrarch)

Africa is an epic by Francesco Petrarch , written between 1338 and 1343. It tells the story of the Second Punic War , in which the Carthaginian general Hannibal initially conquered Italy but was later defeated by Roman troops under the leadership of Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus , the hero of the epic, near Zama in North Africa.
