Agencia Venezolana de Noticias (AVN) , until June 2010 under the name Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias (ABN) , is the state news agency of Venezuela . It was founded in April 2005 at the instigation of the Ministry of Communication and Information (MinCI) and replaced the old state agency Venpres . AVN offers extensive coverage at regional and national levels, as well as Latin America in general. The AVN website is available in Spanish and English . On October 8, 2008, Information Minister Andrés Izarra announced that the agency, which had previously been a direct part of the Ministry of Communication and Information as an "autonomous service", had been transformed into an independent state-owned company called Agencia Venezolana de Noticias (AVN, Venezuelan News Agency) becomes.
