The Agenzia Nationale per la Sicurezza delle ferrovie (ANSF) is the Italian agency for railway safety. Its headquarters are in Florence . It is comparable to the Federal Railway Authority .

Legal basis

The legal basis for their work is Article 4 of the Decree of August 10, 2007, No. 162, implementing Directive 2004/49 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 29, 2004. On June 16, 2008, she has started work.

Jurisdiction

Initially, the authority was only responsible for the network of the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana . After the railway accident in Andria on July 12, 2016, she was also given responsibility for the three private Apulian railways, Ferrotramviaria , Ferrovie del Sud Est and Ferrovie del Gargano at the beginning of September 2016 . Further Italian private railways are to follow.
