Agnespost is a post office at Agnesstrasse 1–5 in Munich's Schwabing-West district .

Description and history

It was built between 1925 and 1926 according to plans by the architects of the Post Building School, Robert Vorhoelzer and Franz Holzhammer . The five-story hipped roof block with echoes of Expressionism also takes up historicizing elements with its facade decoration. He has rich stone figurines. The building is listed under file number D-1-62-000-88 as a monument in the Bavarian list of monuments. It is part of the Schwabing-West cultural history trail .

On July 5, 1955, a deadly parcel bomb attack was carried out on the Slovak politician in exile, Matúš Černák (1903–1955) , in the counter hall of the post office . The background to the crime, in which two uninvolved people were killed and 20 people were injured, could not be clarified.
