Agricultural market Austria
The agricultural market Austria ( AMA ) is a public corporation in Austria . It was established in 1993 in accordance with the AMA Act of 1992 ( Federal Law Gazette No. 376/1992).
Areas of activity
The tasks of the AMA are:
- Market and price reporting on domestic and foreign markets for agricultural products
- Measures to improve quality, development and application of quality guidelines for agricultural products and products made from them
- Marketing for agricultural products from Austria
The AMA was assigned the following tasks by the Ministry of Agriculture (then: Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, since 2020: Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism ):
- The agendas of the former Dairy Management Fund, the Grain Management Fund, the Mill Fund and the Cattle and Meat Commission
- Milk quota management
- License management
- Market intervention
- Cattle identification
- Handling of service fees and support programs for agricultural businesses if these are not managed by the ministry itself
In addition, the AMA is entrusted with the processing of compensation payments for Austria's farmers. In addition to most market regulation premiums, it also handles payments from the ÖPUL environmental program and the compensatory allowance for farmers in mountainous and other disadvantaged areas. The AMA is that of Austria against the European Union appointed paying agent , which may carry out these payments.
