Aguas Blancas is a locality in the south of the Lavalleja department in Uruguay . It belongs to the 2nd judicial department based in the municipality of Solís de Mataojo .

Aguas Blancas is a reservoir zone on the Arroyo Mataojo south of Minas . Aguas Blancas can be reached via Ruta 81 .

history

The reservoir was built in the 1940s on the waters of the Mataojo brook as an irrigation project for orchards in the valley area of ​​the aforementioned watercourse.

Tourism

The dam area offers ideal conditions for fishing and shipping. It is a place that is frequently visited on weekends to rest and enjoy nature. There is a municipal campsite in the village, which has parking spaces, electricity, drinking water, hot water baths, a grill, laundry and dishes, a swimming area, fishing and boat trips on the lake. There are football and volleyball fields with overnight accommodation and security systems to monitor the area.

Wild goats and rare species of birds can be found in the area. The place is in a strategic point because it is easily accessible from both Montevideo and Punta del Este . The site is also close to the town of Solís de Mataojo , which has all the major facilities.
