The ahlspiess is an invented in the 15th century Polearm from the Holy Roman Empire .

description

The ax spit has a straight, thin, square blade. The blade is attached to the shaft with a nozzle and springs. The blade is made wide at the transition from the shaft springs and becomes narrower towards the place . The place is diamond shaped. A round or octagonal parrying disc is usually attached below the blade. The Ahlspieß was developed to be able to penetrate more easily through the gaps in plate armor that is getting better and better . At times it was also used as a dueling weapon. Ahl skewers remained in use until around the 17th century. There are different versions that vary in length and design.
