Ailsa Craig is a city in western Ontario , on the Ausable River .
Ailsa Craig is part of the district North Middlesex County Middlesex . In 2001, the cities and towns of East Williams , West Williams and McGillivray as well as The Town of Parkhill and Village of Ailsa Craig were merged and renamed North Middlesex . The total population is 6,658 (2011).
Earl Ross (1941–2014) was born and lived in Ailsa Craig. He became the first non-American to win a NASCAR Winston Cup race in 1974 .
