AirPrint is a software interface developed by the US company Apple for wireless printing from end devices with the iOS and Mac OS X operating systems .

history

AirPrint was first implemented on November 22, 2010 in version iOS 4.2.1 . On July 20, 2011, the interface was extended to Mac devices and introduced in Mac OS X Lion .

Functions

The main focus of the interface is on wireless communication between a printer and an iOS device over a Wi-Fi network . However, AirPrint also works over Ethernet connections. Numerous applications can be used to send PDFs, text documents and other files directly to the printer. A configuration of the printer or the iOS device is not required. The printers can be selected from a list. Not every printer with a network connection supports AirPrint.
