Air Accident Investigation Unit
The Air Accidents Investigation Unit (AAIU) ( Irish : An tAonad um Imscrúdú Aerthionóiscí ) is a transport agency in the Republic of Ireland that investigates aircraft accidents and is part of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport . He is based in Dublin .

The agency was established in 1993 based on the Chicago Convention and the European Union Regulation on the Investigation and Prevention of Accidents and Incidents in Civil Aviation. A branch office is located in the village of Gormanston in County Meath .
