The Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego Józefa Piłsudskiego w Warszawie (AWF Warsaw) is a public sports university in Warsaw , Poland . In addition to the Polish name, it has the English name Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw .
history
The university was founded in 1929 and named after the Polish statesman, Marshal Józef Piłsudski , after his death in 1935 . In 1947 it was renamed the Karol Świerczewski Academy for Physical Education. In 1990, after the defeat of communism, the school returned to its original name.
