Akebu (also: Akebou , Kebu , Kabu , Kegberike , Ekpeebhe ) is the language of the Akebu people of the same name .
Most of them live in Togo . Akebu is one of the Kwa languages .
The number of speakers is estimated at around 56,400 (SIL 2002) people. They live mainly in the south of Togo in the prefecture de Wawa up to the border with Ghana . Local centers for Akebu speakers are Kougnohou , Veh-Nkougna and Kamina .
