Akina Nakamori ( Japanese 中 森 明 菜 , Nakamori Akina ; born July 13, 1965 in Ōta , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese J-Pop singer and actress . She was one of the most popular singers in Japan in the 1980s. She is known for her deep, powerful voice.

Life

Akina Nakamori won the talent show Star Tanjō in 1981 on the third attempt ! of Japanese television and released their first single Slow Motion in 1982. She set herself apart from other singers of her generation with provocative lyrics and a chameleon-like change in appearance. Her rebellious image was the opposite of the good-natured and charming image of her pop rival Seiko Matsuda . They competed with each other in the media during the 1980s.
