Akira Sasō

Akira Sasō ( Japanese さ そ う あ き ら , Sasō Akira ; born February 9, 1961 in Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a Japanese mangaka .

Born in Hyōgo Prefecture, Sasō grew up in Bombay and studied literature at Waseda University . For his debut work Shiroi Shiroi Natsuyanen ( シ ロ イ シ ロ イ ナ ツ ヤ ネ ン ) he received the Great Chiba Tetsuya Prize in 1984. For Shindō ( 神童 ) he was awarded the Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival in 1998 and the Osamu Tezuka Culture Prize for Excellence in 1999. Since 2006 he has been giving lectures on manga art at Seika University in Kyoto.
