The Akpes is one of the languages of Nigeria .
The language is one of the endangered languages because it only has 10,000 active speakers and the language has been replaced by English , Nigeria's new official language since 1960.
Akpes is also an independent branch of the West Benue Congo languages , which forms its own dialect cluster .
