Action program for more youth participation

The action program for more youth participation is one of the results of the National Action Plan for a Child-Friendly Germany 2005–2010 (NAP) .

Project P

First of all, “Project P” was founded in 2004 as an initiative of the German federal government to promote the political participation of children and young people. It was sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth , the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the German Federal Youth Association , which formed an alliance for this purpose.

The foundation of “Project P” was the NAP, on which a large part of the work of all those involved was based on six topic categories. It supported the concrete political participation of many thousands of children and young people across Germany. To this end, numerous local, regional and national initiatives have been funded and new offers of participation have been suggested. Through targeted public relations work, we managed to arouse attention, interest and sensitivity for the importance and opportunities of political participation.

The editorial team of the website www.projekt-p.de also consisted for the most part of young people from all over Germany who write reports for the website in addition to studying or school.

As a result of "Project P", the children and young people created a 94-page NAP report full of ideas and additions to the NAP. The "Project P" initiative ended with the official handover of the report to the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth.

The project P covered the period from December 2004 to April 2006. Core Project, the festival was " Berlin 05 - Festival for young politics " in June 2005 with 300 projects and 11 200 participants. At the end of 2006, the ideas from "Project P" were taken up and continued with the new action program for more youth participation "You do". In June 2008 the festival " Berlin 08 - Festival for Young Politics " took place based on Berlin 05.
