Al-Ghurfa ( Arabic الغرفة, DMG al-Ġurfa ) is a city in the Yemeni Hadramaut governorate with about 5000 inhabitants. It lies between Tarim and Shibam .

The former city sheikdom once belonged to the British protectorate of Aden . In 1925 (1344 after the Hejra ) Ghurfa issued silver coins of 4, 8, 15, 30, 45 and 60 khumsi . There were 120 khumsi = 1 riyal.
