Al-Mesaimeer Sports Club ( Arabic نادي المسيمير الرياضي) is a sports club from Mesaimeer in Qatar . The men's soccer team plays in the Qatargas League , the second highest national soccer league.

Club history

The club was unofficially founded in 1996 as Al-Nahda Sports Club in Doha . In 1998 the club was officially founded by Sheikh Jasim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani with the support of the Qatar National Olympic Committee through the formation of a constituent general assembly and the election of a board of directors . The name was also changed to Al-Shoala Sports Club .

In 2000 construction of the club headquarters in Mesaimeer was completed under the supervision of the National Olympic Committee. The plans have been revised to reach the local population for the club and to gain a base of players in all ages from juniors to first team. Furthermore, facilities and services in the field of sports equipment and accessories for coaches were made available.

At the request of the members of the founding club and the employees, the club name was changed again in 2004: Since then, the club has been operating under the current name of Al-Mesaimeer SC , based on the headquarters of the club.

At the end of the 2014/15 season, the club was in second place in the second national league and thus rose to the top national league for the first time. The following year the immediate relegation followed as bottom of the Qatar Stars League .
