The Alaire AL.1 Cacique was a trainer aircraft produced by the Argentine manufacturer Alaire SCA
history
In the 1960s, Alfredo Turbay designed an aircraft that he named the T-11. On the basis of this design, he and Erwin Mai from Alaire SCA developed the T-11 into the Alaire AL.1 Cacique . Construction of two prototypes began, but only one of them was completed and flew. Since the aircraft was heavier than planned, it turned out during the test phase that the performance was insufficient and development was discontinued.
construction
The AL-1 was a stripped high-wing aircraft in all-metal construction and fixed nose wheel landing gear. The two seats were one behind the other in a closed cabin, which could be entered through a door on the right-hand side. The machine was powered by a Continental O-200A with 73 kW.
