Alardus von Burgdorf
Alardus von Burgdorf stayed at the court of Emperor Otto IV and was a witness when the terminally ill emperor made his will on May 18, 1218 at the Harzburg . It says: Alardus de Burcthorp turrim suam cum feodo suo .
He came from the noble family von Burgdorf, whose representatives were enfeoffed in the 12th century with imperial fiefs belonging to the royal palace Werla . His ancestor of the same name is considered to be the builder of the rock fortress Ahlsburg in Eckertal in the area of the later county of Wernigerode , whose owner Alardus von Burgdorf probably became. In the 14th century, representatives of the family were enfeoffed with the Ahlsburg by the emperor. However, there are no written documents from his time that identify him as the owner of the Ahlsburg, as the castle was first mentioned in documents in 1357.
