Alasdair MacColla (* around 1610, † 1647 ) was a Scottish-Irish soldier. His full name in Gaelic was Alasdair MacColla Ciotach MacDomhnaill (in English: Alasdair the son of Colla the Left-handed, of the clan MacDonald).

MacColla fought in the troops of the Confederation of Ireland and on the side of the royalists in the English Civil War . He and his group of soldiers were also known for the atrocities he committed against members of the Campbell clan . During the time he was occupying Argyll , the Campbells territory (1645 and 1647), he had all men capable of military service, armed or not, killed. On another occasion, he burned down a barn that was home to the Campbells, including women and children. The barn was remembered as the "Barn of Bones". He fought on the side of James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose in the Scottish Civil War and died in 1647 at the Battle of Knocknanauss .

The traditional Irish piece Alasdair Mhic Cholla Ghasda from the 17th century is based on Alasdair MacColla. It is performed by Clannad , among others .
