Albayrak Holding is a Turkish conglomerate based in Istanbul - Bayrampaşa .

The company was founded in 1952 by Hacı Ahmet Albayrak (1925–2010) and for the first 30 years of its existence it was exclusively active in the construction industry. In 1982 the group entered the transport business , and in 1992 became the first private company in Turkey to enter the garbage industry . The Ereğli textile factory was taken over in 1996, and the media business area was added in 1997 with the purchase of the daily newspaper Yeni Şafak . Further extensions followed.

Today the group divides its activities into five areas:

  • Construction (Albayrak İnşaat)
  • Industry (Ereğli textile mill, Varaka paper mill, Kademe Atık commercial vehicles and Tümosan engine and tractor plant)
  • Logistics (operation of the ports of Trabzon and Mogadishu , car rental Albayrak, personnel transport company Albayrak)

The group is managed by the sons of the company's founder, Hacı Ahmet Albayrak. Chairman of the board is Ahmet Albayrak ; His brothers Bayram, Nuri, Kazım, Mustafa and Muzaffer Albayrak are also in the company's management.

Albayrak Holding is present in the Turkish public primarily through its media division (Albayrak Medya Grubu). It includes the daily newspaper Yeni Şafak , the television station TVNET , various magazines, including the magazine Derin Tarih ("Deep History") as well as a marketing agency and a sales company.

criticism

The Albayrak Holding is considered to be closely linked to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Justice and Recovery Party (AKP). It is often criticized that the group is favored in public tenders, especially by cities and municipalities.
