Albericus Londoniensis (also 'Lundoniensis ' , often with the addition of Magister ), or Alberic of London , also " Albricus " or " Poetarius Albrici " was an English-speaking monk who was mentioned as early as the 12th century and was the third Vatican mythologist (lat. Mythographus Vaticanus tertius) instructions written in Latin with descriptions of images for 23 pagan depictions of gods, such as B. Instructions for Representing Venus, wrote. The literary work is called "libellus (= Latin book, small script) de deorum imaginibus", the illustrated manuscript was created in northern Italy around 1420. It is under the signature " Codex Vaticanus Reg. Lat.1290, " in the Vatican Library . The script contains forms of representation from mythology and instructions that are equally interesting for painters and astrologers. It was continued in over 40 manuscripts and is considered a source for painting within art history. The representation of the Olympic gods of Albericus lived on in the French book illustrations of the 15th and 16th centuries. A print from 1520 of the Allegoriae Poeticae (on allegories) from the library of the Carmelites, ascribed to the poet, is in the Regensburg State Library . The Libellus was also published in print at the beginning of the 16th century.
