The Albert Schweitzer Foundation - Wohnen & Betreuen is a legal foundation under civil law and a member of the Transparent Civil Society Initiative and prepares its annual reports in accordance with the requirements of the Social Reporting Standard. history

In 1954 the “Albert Schweitzer” nursing home was built in Berlin-Blankenburg . Together with the Feierabendheim built in 1977 in Buschallee, these two communal institutions of the Weißensee District Office of Berlin formed the basis of the foundation under civil law established in 1997. Since then, the company has stood legally and economically on its own two feet.

The Albert Schweitzer Foundation - Living & Care offers social services at 20 locations in the north-east of Berlin. 540 employees and 100 volunteers work for around 660 users in the three support areas and the higher-level service areas.

For elderly people in need of care, the foundation offers, in addition to care in the nursing home, a shared apartment project for people with dementia. An outpatient care service is available for care within your own four walls.

Offers for people with intellectual disabilities range from shared flats to assisted individual living and traditional homes. For users who do not have any external activity, the day center offers activities ranging from catering and working with animals to a pottery workshop and painting.

In the Albert Schweitzer Foundation - Living and Supervision, people with mental disabilities find individual support and support, depending on the need for assistance in the home, shared apartment or supervised individual residence. The residential offers are supplemented by a meaningful day structure and activities in the day center and work project. For people with longstanding alcohol addiction and a lack of willingness to abstain, there is inpatient housing and care.
