Albrecht Fischer (zoologist)

Albrecht Fischer (born June 12, 1937 in Hohenliebenthal , Silesia ) is a German zoologist and developmental biologist.

Fischer received his doctorate in 1964 and completed his habilitation in 1971 at the University of Cologne . In 1974 he became an adjunct professor and in 1980 professor at the University of Mainz .

He was particularly concerned with the developmental biology and reproduction of marine annelids such as Platynereis dumerilii . He also made a film about it, which in 1985 received a prize from the International Society of Developmental Biologists (and also other films, including about lampreys ).

In 1999/2000 he was President of the German Zoological Society .
