The Albstadt Bike Marathon , also known as Assa Abloy Albstadt Bike Marathon , is a popular sporting event for mountain bikers in Albstadt in the Zollernalb district and is one of the most popular mountain bike marathons in Germany. With over 15,000 spectators, it is also the most popular event of its kind in Europe. The marathon has been held annually since 1995. The main sponsor is the local company Assa Abloy Sicherheitstechnik .

Starting block Bike Marathon 2019

The marathon route with start and finish in Albstadt leads over 83 kilometers and 2000 meters in altitude over the Swabian Alb and connects all nine districts of Albstadt. With the 26th edition in 2021, the event will be expanded to include a competition for e-bikes , which starts in Onstmettingen and covers the last 42 km of the marathon route. A kids cup for children and teenagers complements the program.

A special feature of the Albstadt Bike Marathon is the high participation of the local population, both on the part of spectators and the participants. The latter is supported by separate starting blocks for the teams from companies from the region. The starting field of the marathon is limited to 2500.
