Alder-Rickert reaction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alder-Rickert reaction is a name reaction in organic chemistry that was first introduced in 1936 by Kurt Alder and Hans Rickert and was later named after them.

Overview reaction

The Alder-Rickert reaction is an extension of the Diels-Alder reaction , in which the Diels-Alder cycloadducts displace the cleavable groups ( R 1 and R 2 ) to form even more stable aromatic compounds under thermal conditions or in the presence of acids or to form bases.

The following reaction sequence contains an intramolecular variant of the Alder-Rickert reaction:

application

This reaction is used in the formation of various aromatic compounds, such as steroids , multiply substituted chlorophenols , phthalic acid , or differently substituted variants of phthalic acid, such as 4-methylphthalic acid.
