Aleksandar Mutafov

Aleksandar Nakow Mutafow ( Bulgarian Александър Наков Мутафов ; born May 8, 1879 in Shumen , † November 25, 1957 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian painter. He became known for his landscapes and especially for his seascapes. He is considered to be one of the founders of Bulgarian maritime painting .

The painter's studio in Sozopol opened to visitors in 1976. In 1981 the building, built in 1937, was officially declared a house museum. There are over 60 of his works there today.
