The Alemannische Bühne Freiburg was founded in 1924 under the name Elsässische Theater im Breisgau by Alsace-Lorraine residents living in Freiburg im Breisgau . The dialect theater was played with amateur actors until the war years. In 1950 the “Alemannische Heimatbühne Freiburg i. Br. ”, Which initially performed as a pure touring theater throughout southern Baden. Under the name “Alemannische Bühne Freiburg e. V. “, the theater has made a name for itself in the cultural life of the city as well as in the surrounding area.

The venue is the theater in the former building of the Feierling brewery in Gerberau, which was moved into in 1978. In addition to its own program, two dialect pieces and one piece for young people per month from October to June, the theater hall is used for musical, cabaret and theater guest performances by friendly stages from the border triangle under the heading "Cabaret in the theater of the Alemannic stage " utilized.
