Alexander Heckmann

Alexander Heckmann (* 1908 ; † 1994 ; Russian Александр Иоганнесович Гекман , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Iogannesovič Gekman ) was a Soviet politician ( CPSU ) and the last head of government and chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the Autonomous People's Republic of Germany . He was also a member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR .

Heckmann was arrested in 1944 with other Soviet functionaries of German origin. In 1946 he was charged with “anti-Soviet propaganda” with a nationalist background and sentenced to four years in prison .
