The country team of Germans from Russia e. V. (LmDR) represents the interests of Germans who were expelled within the Soviet Union and who moved to Germany as Russian Germans over the course of several decades after the Second World War . The federal office of the LmDR is in Stuttgart . Its longstanding chairman in the early days was Karl Stumpp . The compatriot of Germans from Russia is committed to the charter of German expellees .

tasks and goals

According to its own statements, the LmDR sees itself as an interest group , aid organization and cultural association for all Russian Germans . Above all, the organization works for Germans in and from the successor states of the Soviet Union . The right to leave the country freely, to practice one's religion freely and to use one's mother tongue are the focus of efforts. Publicly demanding the implementation of the right to cultural autonomy and redress for the injustice suffered in 1941 and later is one of the goals of the Landsmannschaft.

The LmDR supports the Russian Germans during and after their immigration in Germany. On the social, political and cultural level, the Landsmannschaft contributes to the creation of favorable framework conditions for integration in German society and works closely with the responsible administrative offices at the state and federal level. As a result of the Immigration Act, which came into force on January 1, 2005, and following resolutions by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, initial migration advice centers (MEB) were set up with organizational and financial support from the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF).

The legal equality of Russian Germans and locals, family reunification , public awareness of the history of Russian Germans and overall social integration in the “old new” homeland are central issues and tasks of the country team.

Organization and public relations

The country team of Germans from Russia pursues charitable purposes. The Landsmannschaft is organizationally divided into regional associations and 106 local or district groups (as of February 2017). The employees of the Landsmannschaft in the federal, state and local boards basically work on a voluntary basis . The Landsmannschaft's funds come largely from membership fees and donations from members.

The Landsmannschaft conducts its public relations work through numerous of its own events and publications, especially with the monthly magazine Volk auf dem Weg . Under the direction of the project manager Jakob Fischer , information is also provided about the history and current situation of Germans from Russia by means of a traveling exhibition.

In their public self-portrayal, the compatriot of Germans from Russia does not describe itself as a migrant self-organization . In fact, it is (alongside the Turkish-Kurdish immigrant group) one of the most influential umbrella organizations among the organizations of immigrants in Germany. The Russian-German repatriates are by far the largest group of people with a migration background in Germany.

Federal Executive

According to the statutes of the LmDR, the federal board is re-elected every three years. The following people were elected at the Federal Delegate Assembly on October 13, 2018 in Fulda:
