Viktor Krieger

Viktor Krieger (* 1959 in the Shambyl region , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a German historian .

Career

Krieger studied economics in Novosibirsk from 1976 to 1981 and then worked at the Institute for Light and Food Industry in Shambyl . In the meantime, he worked from 1983 to 1987 as a research assistant at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR at the Institute for Economic Research in Novosibirsk. In 1992 he received his doctorate at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty : the title of the dissertation was "Social'no-ekonomičeskoe razvitie nemeckoj pereselenčeskoj derevni Kazachstana (dorevoljucionnyj period)" ("The socio-economic development of the German emigration village in Kazakhstan ( Period)").

He then moved to the Federal Republic of Germany, where he worked from 1992 to 1993 as an intern and employee in the General State Archives in Karlsruhe . In the following years he was a research assistant at the Institute for Foreign Relations in Stuttgart and a lecturer at the Pforzheim University . Since 1999 he has been a project member at the “Research Center for the History and Culture of Germans in Russia” and lecturer at the seminar for Eastern European history at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Krieger is an expert on the history and culture of Germans in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union .
