Alexander Juljewitsch Ischlinski

Alexander Juljewitsch Ischlinski ( Russian Александр Юльевич Ишлинский , * July 24 ^{. Jul} / August 6th, 1913 ^greg. In Moscow , † 7. February 2003 ) was a Soviet and Russian mechanic and mathematician. He was a professor and since 1960 a member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR .

Life

In 1935 Alexander Ischlinski graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Lomonosov University in Moscow . From 1947 to 1955 he worked in Kiev as director of the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR . In 1955 he returned to Moscow to take part in the Soviet missile project.

Alexander Ischlinski worked in the Soviet Union in the field of theoretical inertial navigation and astronavigation . Based on this was from Nikolai Piljugin and Volodymyr Serhjejew navigation systems for ICBMs and astroinertiale navigation systems for intercontinental missiles W-350 Burja developed. In addition, he conducted research in the areas of plasticity theory and elasticity theory .

As a member of the State Commission for Missile Test Preparation, he was on October 24, 1960 on the launch pad of the first flight test of the R-16 ICBM in Baikonur . The start was delayed due to technical problems. Ischlinski left the launch site and thus escaped the Nedelin disaster .

Ischlinski was since 1944 professor at the Lomonossow University in Moscow. From 1965 to 1990 he was director of the Institute for Mechanical Problems at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Russian Институт проблем механики АН СССР ), which is named after him.
