Aleksandr Antonov ( Russian Александр Павлович Антонов * Feb. 1 . Jul / 13. February  1898 greg. In Moscow ; †  26. November 1962 ) was a Soviet actor.

Life

Antonov came to the Proletkulttheater in Moscow in 1920, where he played as a member of the ensemble until 1924. Here Sergej Eisenstein discovered him and first cast him in 1923 in his short film Дневник Глумова and in 1925 in the feature- length film Strike . Antonov embodied a worker in strike . His most famous role was that of Grigory Wakulintschuk in Eisenstein's armored cruiser Potemkin . Antonov subsequently appeared in numerous Soviet silent films. He also succeeded in establishing himself as an actor in talkies. In 1950, Antonov was named an Honored Artist of the RSFSR .
