Alfa Romeo Arna

The Alfa Romeo Nissan Automobili SpA (in short: ARNA) is a former automobile manufacturer from the Italian Pratola Serra .

history

The company was founded on October 9, 1980 as a joint venture between the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo and the Japanese manufacturer Nissan .

Work in the newly built plant began in 1983. The Alfa Romeo Arna and Alfa Romeo 33 models were manufactured here, and from 1984 the Giardinetta was also available as a combination vehicle.

Due to the almost unchanged exterior body, the model was criticized. In addition, at the same time as the Alfa Romeo 33, a competing model was developed in-house.

The cooperation with Nissan was ended in 1987 under pressure from the Fiat group, which had bought Alfa Romeo in the spring of 1986. Fiat, in turn, set up FMA engine production in this factory in 1994.
