Alfred Hornung

Alfred Hornung (* 1945 ) is a former German Americanist .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in Würzburg in 1977 , he was a research assistant there from 1977 to 1986. After his habilitation in 1985 at the University of Würzburg , he was a substitute professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in 1986, taught as a visiting professor at Columbia University from 1986 to 1987 and represented American studies at the University of Bamberg from 1987 to 1988 . Since 1988 he has been a university professor (C 4) at the University of Mainz and turned down offers (1988 University of Hamburg , 1993 University of Konstanz ).

His research interests are Transnational American Studies, Transcultural Life Writing, Transcultural Ecology, Life Writing, and Life Sciences.
